Children learn better when we notice how they feel

By Knowledge base

Children are people too and their anxiety and moods fluctuate.

In a mainstream classroom, groupwork reduces pressure for individual performance and allows for collaboration and turn taking.

In the Montessori classroom, children select equipment or tasks that match their current moment of curiosity and enquiry and this allows them to settle into the day in a space of comfort.

Whichever stream or curriculum is being utilised, awareness of the state of the child and their current capacity to learn is crucial in allowing them to achieve their full potential.

Marist Sunset concert

By School News

The Marist Sunset concert was a celebration of the talents of our music pupils and the professional musicians on our staff. Don Vino entertained the audience expertly and the pupils danced the night away to the sounds of Mr Morris. This was a wonderful community event that conveyed our Marist family spirit in action, enhanced by fantastic music, as is always the case at St Joseph’s.

Simunye feeding scheme at St Michael’s Parish. Our pupils also had the privilege of participating in the Installation of the new Archbishop, Sithembele Sipuka, which was a wonderful celebration. They represented the school with honour and dignity, doing us all proud.

How St Joseph’s Marist College Builds Teenagers of Character

At St Joseph’s Marist College, character is not built in a single moment. It is nurtured from the early years right through to senior school. As pupils grow, they are guided to develop strong values, a healthy work ethic, and the confidence to relate well to others. Through lessons, mentor sessions, after-school activities, and daily support from staff, they are encouraged to become young adults who know who they are and who they want to be.

This is what teenagers need most: guidance, consistency, and adults who are present. Every day is an Open Day at St Joseph’s Marist College. Give your child the best possible start and watch them grow into a teenager of character. Apply once and they can remain with us for their full school journey.
